Steve Luteran serves as United Community’s Chief Programs Officer, responsible for the successful development, implementation, and achievement of outcomes and goals for all United Community programs. Steve works collaboratively across our agency programs and with community and government partners towards United Community’s vision of ending multigenerational poverty.
Steve has 20 years in senior management, bringing clinical experience to nonprofit and government agencies working with vulnerable families, children, youth, and adults. Prior to joining United Community, Steve was Clinical Director at the McClendon Center in Washington, DC, an agency serving adults and transitional age youth (18-24) and families dealing with serious mental illness. He was responsible for administration, business operations, and clinical service delivery for the agency, which sees more than 5,000 patients annually.
Steve’s extensive experience also includes serving as Executive Director of Catholic Charities of Arlington, Deputy Director for Washington, DC’s Department of Youth and Rehabilitation Services, and Director of Residential Services at Sasha Bruce Youthwork. He also is a trainer at the national level on topics related to youth and family services. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, and received his Master in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University.
