The after-school snacks at our Community Centers just got better!
United Community’s Creekside Village Community Center and Sacramento Neighborhood Center are now providing nutritious dinners during their after-school programs! The 60+ youth enrolled in Success through Purpose, Achievement, Respect, and Knowledge (SPARK) will be able to come to the centers for tutoring, fun activities, and a full meal.
SPARK is a multi-faceted youth development program for students grades 1-12. Age-appropriate programming exists for all students to ensure these historically underserved youth have a safe after-school and summer environment to excel and grow. Providing dinner tackles food insecurity head on and ensures proper nutrition. Participants will have the energy they need to complete their homework and experience programs like Girls on the Run, Cub Scouts, Girls Scouts, and Teen Action Planners. Upcoming field trips, and summer programs will also include catered meals to keep the youth healthy and ready for fun!
It is thanks to a partnership with the USDA’s Child and Adult Care Food Program that the centers are able to work with Fairfax Food Services and Caterers Inc. to provide these meals.
