Tracy has over 25 years in the non-profit business both in fundraising and direct program service. Joining United Community in January 2019, she has served as the Director of Foundation & Government Grants. She has created very successful proposals working with development, executive and program staff more than doubling the amount raised in foundation, government and corporate funding in her first year. Her family roots are firmly planted along Route One where she graduated from Mount Vernon High School, completing her B.A. in Communications at Virginia Tech and her Masters in Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University. 

Tracy has extensive experience in fundraising, program development, planned giving and the versatile capacity to build and sustain public and private partnerships. She has many years of experience working in Fairfax County interacting closely with county representatives and elected officials. Her leadership style comes from a collaborative team perspective. She believes the whole is only as good as its parts. Everyone has something important to contribute, and should be valued, recognized, respected and provided with the necessary resources and tools to be successful – to think innovatively, strategically and thoughtfully. Tracy sees through the lens in which United Community operates valuing equity, diversity and inclusivity not only in the communities we serve, but also for ourselves.

Tracy lives in Occoquan, Virginia with her husband and they have three adult daughters. Her mother Sharon Kelso was Executive Director of United Community from 1979 to 2004. Clearly, there is no other organization that runs deeper in her heart or drives her passion further to lead and learn from others. She recognizes that now is an incredible time to be part of United Community and can’t wait to see what we can all create together!
